What is Animal Reiki?

The connection we develop and grow with animals runs deep and Reiki is an incredible way to help further build that bond. They attract us into their lives so that we can learn and heal from them as they offer us their unconditional and unwavering love. Animals teach us so much in the time we are with them, more than we will ever teach them. They are extremely intuitive and highly energetic beings and are drawn to the calming and peaceful energy that comes from Reiki. Their vibration resonates higher than people so they are more able and willing to receive Reiki. When we are able to open up our own healing to help them heal, it builds a safe space for their Mind, Body and Spirit to relax. Animal Reiki helps to support the health, wellbeing and happiness of our pets.

Differences between Animal Reiki and People Reiki

Animal Reiki is a more meditative state of welcoming a harmonious connection to allow Reiki to flow from the Practitioner to the animal rather than hand placements on the chakras like with people. Different meditation tools (Reiki symbols, prayers, mantras, breathing techniques, visualization etc) are used to help create the best way to encourage healing with the animal. Gentle physical touch to the animal's chakras can be done to supplement the Reiki energy if needed but this is all based on the animals reaction to the Practitioner's energy and the animal's needs.

Reiki healing in animals does not always look like we would expect it to when comparing to healing in people. For people, we typically think of getting better from being stressed or sick so that we can quickly get back to our normal health and physical status.

For animals, they may not always show immediate outward changes they are healing or improving but differences in behavior is a great cue. They may show more subtle changes in their behavior so this is how we know the healing is happening. An animal who is usually tense or anxious may gently relax for a few moments giving their full trust to you. They may fall asleep. An animal who usually barks incessantly or paces around in your house at passerbys may pause to look out that window and then take a nap or go to another room or they may continue to bark but in a much quiter way. An animal who usually doesn't listen may become more attentive in your presence. An animal could be showing amazing healing from an injury after a long time with no improvement or change from before. The outcomes of the Reiki healing is really based on the animal.
