What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing in the body that promotes emotional, mental, physical and spiritual well-being for humans and animals. This expands your capacity to carry more light and love in your Life and encourages your bod's natural healing abilities. "Rei" means universal and "ki" means life force energy.
Reiki was developed in Japan by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. Reiki energy flows through all living beings and is gentle in nature. The Reiki Practitioner places their hands on or over the chakras (energy centers) in people and animals to help move and release blocked energy. Reiki can be channeled in person or through distance healing. Distance Reiki allows one to receive a Reiki session beyond the limitations of time and space in the comfort of their home.
Reiki Practitioners understand that everyone and every living being has the ability to connect with their own internal healing energy. The Practitioner acts as a channel for Reiki to help it go where it is needed most. It is believed that your “ki” or energy should be strong, open and free flowing. When this is true, our body and mind is in a positive state of health. When energy is stagnated and blocked in the body, it can lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance.
So Reiki can help us shift into a more relaxed and holistic healing mindset by emphasizing our focus on our internal self (inner body) to positively influence our outer self (outer body).
Benefits of Reiki
•encourage emotional, physical and spiritual relaxation
•reduce and help manage stress
•release tension and anxiety
•increase a sense of well-being and vitality
•help with pain management and body aches
•improve sleep patterns
Reiki can also help with releasing feelings of anger, fear, worry, sadness and any other emotions of this type and replace them with feelings of gratitude, self-worth, confidence and peace.
Although many experience a sense of relaxation in a Reiki session, some may experience fatigue/light headedness, feelings of drained energy, agitation, headaches and changes in digestion or flu-like symptoms that can be perceived as negative side effects. However, this is your body adjusting to the movement of energy flowing, changing and shifting within your body to help with healing. Please let your Reiki Practioner know if you experience any of these during or after your session.
While Reiki is powerful and healing, it is not a replacement for professional medical treatment or procedures but can assist in relaxation and balancing your energy.
